Question I have a Sentinel GPW-14 gun safe I bought about 9 years ago. Shortly after I purchased it the lock broke. It was a tubular type key. I have not had it locked for quite some time and now have grandchildren coming over. I found out on the Internet there was a recall due to the lock. I called the number and they sent me a keyed lock with no instructions. The threaded shaft on the rear of it is too long and won't permit the exterior handle to close all the way. I have some question as to whether the person I spoke with has sufficient knowledge at Stack-On. Can you give me an idea from the attached images?
Thanks,
Jack
Answer Jack,
your pics did not come through. Try to send them to me at: andy@securitysafeusa.com
I have a couple of options for you. First contact Stack-on to have them remedy the problem:
STACK-ON PRODUCTS COMPANY

The GPW-14 is no longer one of their production safes, which may be part of the problem with them sending you a replacement lock.
The second option would be for you to take the "problem lock" down to your local locksmith to obtain a replacement lock.
The third option would be for you to send the lock to me.
In either option #2 or #3, we may not be able to provide an exact replacement lock, if Stack-on has modified it in any way for use with their container, but I won't know this intil I see the lock that you are dealing with.
This brings us to option 4/5
4 - modify the safe to work with a new locking system. You can design and fabricate or have your local safe company upgrade your safe.
5 - buy a new safe that meets your storage needs and has a working locking system.
Well, the ball is in your court. I need to see the photos of your lock to come up with further ideas.
