Question
We removed the door knob to be replace it...could not find a replacement that fit.  Now we are trying to put the old dexter back and it will not go back as before ..the knob is loose on the inside and cannot get it back in place.  When removing we pushed on the spring.  How can we get it back on?  thank you for your kind response.

Answer
Replace the lock! Any Home Depot or Lowes will have a replacement. Kwikset usually works fine for Dexter as it was made by Master lock company.Follow the included instructions with the new lock and make sure you have the proper backset on the latch. Maybe the backset is 2 3/4,an odd size.Pictures would have been helpfull.
