Locksmithing/Opening A Remington Rand Safe

I have a RR safe with the combo it says R to 0 L 40 (4) R 75 (3)
L 35 (2) R 78 I tried going to 0 around 4 times to 40 3 times to 75 and so on it didn't open what am I suppose to do I try a lot of other combo of this but to no avail.

there are only three reasons that a safe lock won't open, they are:
1.  Incorrect dialing sequence (operator errors)
2.  Incorrect combination (wrong numbers)
3.  mechanical problems

Generally when combinations are passed on, they are communicated the way that the previous owner understands it, and NOT necessarily the way it actually works.

The dialing sequence for this lock should be:

4 times left to the first number, 40
3 times right to the second number, 75
2 times left to the third number, 35
1 time right until the dial stops (around 78).

Note:   Left is counter clockwise, Right is clockwise.  DO NOT count the revolutions of the dial, count the individual number as it arrives at the 12 o'clock index mark.   For instance you would turn the dial counter clockwise (left), stopping the fourth time the number 40 arrives at the index mark.

"0" is not part of your combination, it is simply a "starting" point the previous owner needed in order to begin dialing the combination.   If you need it also, then continue to use it, as long as YOU understand that it has NOTHING to do with the combination and is strictly for your benefit.

If you still can't get it to open and you are dialing it correctly, then the numbers may not be correct.   If they are you may have a mechanical problem with the lock.   If this is the case you will need a safe tech from a local safe company.

Hope this helps.
