Locksmithing/operning a safe

Question
QUESTION: i have a HERRING-HALL-MARVIN safe model number-151865...was wondering if u could help me open it....Thank u so much!!!!

ANSWER: Heather,

I would be happy to, however as I'm in California it would be rather expensive to fly me out.   I would recommend that you find a local safe company to have their safe technician (not a locksmith) open it.

As you didn't indicate that you have a combination, I have to assume that you don't, this leaves you with two options, you can either try all of the 1,000,000 possible combos or call the local safe company.

Manufacturers NEVER publish any listings of combinations that safes may have left the factory set on, and as HHM went out of business when it was acquired by Diebold after 1959, contacting them is also out of the question.

Sorry, I wish I had a better answer, but these are your options.

If you don't have a local safe company, let me know where you are located (zipcode) and I'll see who I know in your area, that I might recommend.

QUESTION: Ok we r located near Charleston West Virginia. Any information would help. Thank u!!!

Answer
Heather,

Probably the nearest company that I would recommend would be:

Talton Safes
5924 Fayetteville Road
Raleigh, NC 27603
Phone: 919-779-3545       Ray C. Talton
Fax: 919-772-8258
rctalton@bellsouth.net

While there may be some smaller companies closer, I can't recommend any of them as I have no idea of what their skills are.   As Ray also does antique safe restoration, I know that he will do a good job.

If he is to far away, he may know of someone closer that he would recommend.
