Question
HOW CAN YOU PREVENT THE LOCK FROM FREEZING YOU CAN LOCK FROM INSIDE OF HOUSE BUT CAN'T UNLOCK USING KEY.THANKS FOR THE HELP

Answer
If you want to prevent a lock from freezing, you have to keep water out of it. It is the moisture inside that freezes, dependent on where the lock is installed and how exposed to the elements it is this may be difficult. To thaw it once it is frozen you might try a blow-dryer on high heat, to disperse the moisture from inside the lock spray it out thoroughly with WD40 WEAR SAFETY GLASSES, AND KEEP LOTS OF PAPER TOWELS OR A GOOD ABSORBENT RAG NEARBY. You need to completely flush out all of the moisture.

If you are stuck outside and the lock is frozen warming the key and inserting it into the lock repeatedly until it will open might get you in, dependent on how warm you get the key and with what you warm it this may take several tries.
