Locksmithing/old safe

We bought a house and it has a sentry safe #5250 with no combination. can we find it out ? thanks Phil

You have four options -

1.  You can contact the manufacturer with the serial number for your safe to see if they have any records for it.   Warning - They WILL require proof of ownership, and they do have a record search fee.

2.  You can test all of the possible combinations for your safe until you figure it out and open it.

3.  You can have it opened by a safe technician from a local safe company.   Note:   cost to have it opened and the combination recovered will probably cost more than the safe is worth.

4.  Save the money that it will cost for the record search or to have it opened by a safe technician, and use it to buy you a new safe, though if you are going this route I would recommend you get a much better quality safe.    Sentry safes tend to be on the low end of cheap scale.   They "meet" the basic minimums for fire resistance, but little else.

As far as the previous owners abandoning the container with "stuff" left inside, your chances of hitting the lottery are probably better.    You can spend the money to get the container opened, but don't be surprised if it's empty.   If you are lucky there might be a paper clip and an old comb.    Remember the internet story of the guy who traded a red paper clip up for a house???   http://oneredpaperclip.blogspot.com/
So having it opened might not be a bust after all.

Hope this helps,
