Locksmithing/Falcon Door handle Removal

In our office the door to the bathroom has a door handle with no visible screws. I see a small pin hole on the shaft between the base plate and the handle. Tried pushing it but nothing happened. It has no key slot or locking mechanism. The door is equipped with a deadbolt. I've tried various options from online but nothing works. Maybe you know a trick that can help me?

Hello Jeremy,

Assuming that you have a privacy lock - one that locks from the inside with a turn button or push button and unlocks from the outside with a small emergency tool, a small screwdriver or a small nail - then removal should be easy.

On the inside lever assembly there is the hole you mentioned you found on the lever.  Depress the retainer in that hole as you pull the inside lever straight off.  Once the lever is off, pry up the rose - the trim plate that covers the rose.  Under the trim plate are the mounting screws.  Remove those and the outside assembly should slide out of the door.  Remove the screws for the latch on the door edge then slide the latch assembly out.

If your lock is one of a few brands and models it may have a nut instead of or in addition to the mounting screws.  This nut will be in the center of the rose opening.  Remove the nut then the rose.  The outside assembly will then loose and you can slide it out.

If the inside retainer pin in the lever doesn't work, try the hole in the outside lever.  Some models have them on the outside instead.

If the above doesn't work for you please let me know by replying, and include a photo if possible.

I do not answer Safe or automotive questions. Period. I am knowledgeable in almost every area of Locksmithing. This includes locks, keys, lost keys, residential and commercial lockouts, rekeying, masterkeying, high security locks, access control, electric locks, security cameras and home safety. I have been running an online business since 2004 where I sell all types of lock and security hardware to everyone from apartment renters to business owners to the US government. Before that I started a locksmith service in 1999. I deal with many types of security equipment including high security safe locks, heavy duty padlocks, exit devices, biometric readers, electric strikes, magnetic locks, full surface hinges and I only sell what I personally stand behind 100%. The online business has given me a more in-depth look at the locksmithing industry, helping me to learn more about each and every product that I offer, as well as products I don't have but end up finding for customers to solve any issues they have with security or door hardware.

Please don't submit any automotive or safe questions as these aren't areas that I can help in.
