Locksmithing/BIS safe dial and key lock

I can not remembeI think the seqence for the four numbers can you help please.I think it was 3 turns to the right then 2 to the left but i really cant remember .

Hi Phil,

Generally the dialing sequence is going to be either LRLR or RLRL depending on the actual lock on your safe, as:

4 times left to the first number,
3 times right to the second number,
2 times left to the third number,
1 time right until the dial stops (possibly your fourth number).

Note:    Left is counter clockwise, right is clockwise.   DO NOT count the revolutions of the dial, count the individual number as it arrives at the 12 o'clock index mark.    For instance if your first number is 50, simply turn the dial counter clockwise (left), stopping the FOURTH time the number 50 ARRIVES at the index mark.

If it doesn't unlock using the LRLR above, then substitute RLRL instead and retry.

There are ONLY three reasons a safe lock won't operate correctly, in order they are:

1.   Incorrect dialing sequence, operator errors,
2.   Incorrect combination, wrong numbers, or
3.   mechanical problems.

If you are positive the numbers you are using are correct and it won't open, then you may be making a dialing error, or there may be a problem with the lock.
If you aren't using the correct numbers, or you have them out of order, then it won't unlock.

If you are still having problems, contact a local safe company in your area to have their trained safe technician check it out.

Hope this helps,
