Locksmithing/Have combo - need turn order

My mother has a John D Brush safe & has the combination.  However, she doesn't remember how many turns & which way.  Currently, the safe is open, but she doesn't dare lock it or won't be able to open it.  Do you know how many turns & which way the turns go?  The safe is E135752, /ckass 350 R-3786.

Hi Lois,

These safes had very simple straight tail piece type locks - however there are actually two combinations that will open it.   One will dial LRL and the other RLR.   As we don't know which one you have, you may have to test dial both of them.    Try dialing:

3 times left to the first number,
2 times right to the second number,
1 time left to the third number - turn handle to open safe.

If that doesn't work, then reverse the directions or:

3 times right to the first number,
2 times left to the second number,
1 time right to the third number - turn handle to open safe.

Note:   Left is counter clockwise, right is clockwise.   DO NOT count the revolutions of the dial count the individual number as it arrives at the 12 o'clock index mark.

If it still won't work correctly - don't close and lock it - have it checked out by a safe technician from a local safe company.

Hope this helps,
