Locksmithing/hercules meilink closet vault

Hello Andy, I read your answer to the question on the hercules meilink closet vault.  I have the same vault but mine is locked and I do not have the combination. Is there any way to recover the combination.  thanks.

Hi Mickey,

Meilink hasn't been around since about 1995.   They were acquired by FireKing International.   Even though they are still making safes under the Meilink label (logo), this is not the same company and they only maintain records for the past 15-20 years.

Your Hercules closet vault was made during the late 1950's or during the 60's - so there are not going to be any records available for any original combinations.

The locks that were used have a possible 1,000,000 test combinations so you only have a few options available to you.

You can either begin dialing all of the possible combinations until you find the correct one, or you can have a safe technician from a local safe company open the safe and either recover or reset the combination for you.

As it would take you about 5.5 years, testing 500 combinations each day to test them all, it might be better to have a safe tech open it.    Contact a local safe company to have their safe technician (not a locksmith) work on your safe.

As there are NOT going to be any replacement parts available for this container, any one that indicates that they might ruin the safe while opening it should probably be avoided.

If you don't have any local safe companies, let me know where you are located (zip code) and I'll see who I might know in your area that I might recommend.

Sorry the answer isn't better, but these are your options.
