Logistics/Supply Chain - B2B and B2C Supply Chain

Expert: Kaizhi Tang - 9/25/2005

Question
Mr. Tang,
I have been trying to find out a basic description of a B2C and B2B supply chain with little success.  All I've found is that a typical B2C supply chain is comprised of a supplier, manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, and buyer.  Wouldn't a B2B supply chain consist of the same?

V/R

Answer
B2B means Business-to-business. In my opinion, there will be no components of wholesaler, retailer and buyer. Look at one example such as http://www.alibaba.com/. Only business man can use this platform for trading. I don't have an exact definition of B2B.

Thanks.
