Logistics/Supply Chain - difference betwen a b2c and b2b supply chain

Expert: Kaizhi Tang - 8/11/2006

Question
what ar the key diiferences between a b2c and a b2b supply chain. Can you utilize two diiferent companies as examples to help me understand the concept?

Thanks

Answer
b2c means business to customer and b2b means business to business.

Take amazon as an example, it uses both. When people come to their website to buy their books, etc., it is a b2c model. However, Amazon need to get all the books from publishers. That is a b2b model. I don't know amazon uses some b2b trading network or not. A famous one is called alibaba. It is a Chinese website specialized in B2B. But it has English version also.
