Question
I am wondering if someone there could be of assistance?  My wife is a HUGE fan of I LOVE LUCY and this Christmas I thought I might surprise her with an original prop used in the show - a cup and saucer set with the Ivy pattern.  This set was used in many epsidoes by the various stars and special guests.  Both items carry a certificate of authenticity (COA) but I'm beginning to worry I might have gotten ripped off.  You see, the bottom of the plate is stampped "MARAMON WARE" of Japan but since purchasing I have been told the ONLY ivy pattern china used on the show was by FRANCISCAN.  Does anyone there no if this is true?

Answer
My  news is not good I'm afraid.  Franciscan ware was the only china used on the I Love Lucy set (at least to my knowledge)

I tell people constantly, be very sure about what you bid on w/ auction sites.   You mention a Cert. of Auth. but you don't mention where it's from.  It doesn't always mean what we think I'm afraid.  I'd have to see a photo of your dish to be certain.

Wish I had better news...
