I smoked roughly a pack a day for 18 years, and am now 34 and suffering from a distinct burning in my lungs (is felt in the back, not the chest), and a a sharp, almost constant jabbing pain. Have had this pain for a couple of years, but it has grown increasingly worse. I also have a very difficult time breathing, and am excessively tired all the time. I quit smoking a couple of weeks ago, which is good. However, I am wondering if I might have lung cancer, or emphysema. Could the symptoms I'm exhibiting be indicative of anything other than these two diseases? Thank you,
Nicole
Answer Nicole,
Congratulations on quitting smoking! That's wonderful!
There's only one way to know for sure, and that's to see your doctor. Please don't put it off any longer. See your doctor immediately to have it checked out!
