The issue between a Catholic, and an ELCA Lutheran would be more from the RC Church.  They officially do not recognize other demonstrations as being part of the true Christian Church.  

Also, check previous questions and answers to find the major differences between the two.  

In the end, most of the issues come from the individuals or more commonly, their families. (especially if your relationship would lead to marriage).
