Lutherans - Luthern baptism

Expert: Gordon F. Stoneburner - 6/3/2009

Question
Does an adult get baptized when changing from Catholic to luthern religion?  Can a godparent for a child be Catholic?

Answer
Pat:

An adult converting from being Catholic to being Lutheran is not re-baptized.  Lutherans recognize all Christian baptisms as being valid.
Usually, the only requirement for godparents is that they be Christian.

Hope that helps.

In Christ's Service,

Gordon Stoneburner
