Question Hi, I have a 1978 MGB with a weber carb and electronic distributor I have gas coming into the carb no problem, when I step on the gas it has no acceleration it just makes a sputtering sound Can you help Thank You
Answer Hi Randall,
That narrows the problem down to only a thousand possible things. You need to do some testing to narrow it further.
First run a compression test (throttle open and at least 4 or 5 revolutions)
Fuel? how much fuel? What is the fuel pressure?
Put a timing light on the coil wire and rev the engine to see if ignition is constant on a rev up.
Connect a manifold vacuum gauge and slowly open the throttle on up to about 4500 RPM and tell me what the reading is as the RPM goes up.
Let me know the results of the compression test and the vacuum test and I will give you the next tests.
