I'm am using Cubase Sx 3 & Reason to make beats and record etc. Everything was working the way it should but two days ago I suddenly encounter the next problem. Both in Reason and Cubase I don't get midi signals through when I want to play something via my Evolution MK-449c controller or my AKAI MPD. I have tried to reinstall Reason & Cubase but that doesn't seem to work. What could be causing this?
I really need some advise here.
Cheers
Answer You will have to troubleshoot a bit...
Start with the MIDI source, which is the controller... figure out if it is actually sending out MIDI... if not, change out cables. Since you have two controllers and both are not working, then check the MIDI hardware that you are using to get the MIDI into your computer - is it working? Does Reason or Cubase have a MIDI monitor? Use it to verify no MIDI is arriving... maybe it is, but it is getting filtered in the software settings?
In short, there are a lot of reasons that could cause this... start with the MIDI source and trace it back... start with the obvious (always check the obvious and most simple stuff first... often this is the cause!), then move to the more obscure.
Good luck and follow up with the results of your investigations if they remain unsuccessful.
