MIDI and Computer Generated Music - Midi from PC to amplifier

Expert: jay - 5/2/2009

Question
Hi,
I have some midi music on my PC (and Mac) and want to amplify this music on my amplifier via some sort of Midi interface that helps to improve the sound of the music and make it sound less simply midi and more professional. My intention is then to play along on my guitar with these songs. So here my question: which Midi device allows me to build such a sound enhancing connection from PC (or Mac) (with USB output) to the amplifier??? eagerly looking forward to your answer.

Answer
Get a General MIDI compatible tone generator or synth module such as those manufactured by Roland or Yamaha or Korg... connect the output to a small mixer with built-in effects so you can mix the sound with your guitar, then plug the mixer output to your PA/speakers/headphones.
