Question Actually I have an Optimus Concertmate 990. From what I understand it's the same keyboard sa a casio ctk 611. I've been trying to get this thing to work as a midi controller for months now with no success. I am using an M-Audio Uno 1x1 as the midi interface to connect to USB. I can't seem to get any sound from it when it's hooked to my DAW. I do see a flash of Light every now and then on my DAW but no sound. Is there something I need to do with the keyboard's onboard controls to make this work?
Thanks
Answer Make sure you have the keyboard set for "Local Control OFF" ... set up a MIDI track in your DAW and assign the input to "OMNI" and channel = 1.
Set your DAW to "Echo current MIDI track" (so any MIDI data arriving from the keyboard, is sent back to the keyboard). Usually this is the default setting... but check.
See if you can record some MIDI notes. (Arm track, hit record, press a few keys...)
You should be able to hear the keyboard's internal sounds when you play... and can adjust which patches play by setting these in the MIDI track of the DAW (Bank = 0, Patch = what you want to play, like "piano").
If you don't hear any sound... check if any MIDI info got recorded.
