Subject: Mac and PC using DSL

Question
QUESTION: I have a pc, that is connected to the internet using verizon DSL. I also have a mac, that is not connected to the internet.
The mac came with an Airport Extreme, but I cannot, despite my efforts, get both the pc and the mac to connect to the internet at the same time. I have been able to connect the DSL modem to the airport and get online with the mac that way, but how would I go about getting both online at the same time?
Thanks.
ANSWER: Hi Chaim

You'll need a wireless Router to do this.

Go to http://www.dealmac.com and search for 'Routers' to find deals on them.

QUESTION: Could I have a little clarification on that?
The airport came with an antenna.
If I connect the DSL modem to the airport, the mac uses its airport to get online, not a direct connection.
But if I do that, I do not have a way to get the internet to the pc also - it terminates in the airport. How can I continue and/or split the internet line so it connects to the pc as well as the airport?
Thanks for all your help.
ANSWER: Chaim

I didn't know you had the Airport Extreme Base Station. I though you meant the Mac had an Airport Extreme card in it, which I guess it does.

Does your model Airport Base Station have multiple Ethernet ports? One WAN port and multiple LAN ports?

This page has manual for Airport setups that should guide you;

QUESTION: My airport base has one WAN port and one LAN port, which I'm guessing is the problem here.
I read the manual(s) you suggested, and though they do explain things somewhat, I still have a problem. It says that since I have a DSL modem, I should connect it to the WAN port, which would allow me to connect the other computer (the pc) to the LAN port (I think, correct me if I'm wrong). However, when I connect the modem to the WAN, the mac does not seem to receive the signal. Is there some setting I need to change on the mac?
Thanks

Is your Network PreferencePane setup for DSL? Using PPPoE?

I don't have any experience with DSL, so I'd like you to post in this forum;

It's free and someone there will be able to help. Post in the Networking section.
