Subject: connecting to a MAC folder using a secondary ID

Question
Hi There.

Basically we have a mixed MAC/PC environment here at work.  I don't support the MAC people per se, but they have no technical knowledge on how to set this up (and I couldn't find anything that allowed me to assign rights to a particular folder on the MAC)

Basically, an admin userid on the MAC is called PHOTO.  The computer is called PHOTO.  There is a hard drive called PHOTO.  On the PHOTO hard drive, there is a folder called PUBLIC.

From windows, this is what I do:  click on START / RUN and type \\photo\photo  .  It prompts me for a userid and password.  It only allows me to put in the userid PHOTO and the password.  I would like to be able to use a guest or other login ID to connect to this, but it doesnt' let me.

Any ideas on this?  Much appreciated.

Answer
Hi Harry

You should get a dialog box when using Connect to Server that has a Guest as an option for connecting.

Make sure, in the Sharing PreferencePane, that both 'Personal File Sharing' and Windows Sharing' are turned on in the machine you're trying to connect to.
