Question
QUESTION: Hi Bob,
Thanks for the first round of answers.
I have one more  question. The pc is in one room and the MAC in an other. If I
can't get the old Airport card, ( and don't want to buy the new whey of doing
it)  can I get router for both MAC and the pc? Or cam I get two Modems one
for the room the pc is in and one for the room the MAC is in. thaanks for all
your help, and I will be nominateing you for volunteer of the month.
Thanks Barbara
ANSWER: Barbara

In this case, wireless is the best way to go, but you don't have to buy Apple's Airport. You'll see several moderately priced wireless routers on the page I linked to.

The you would need a wireless adapter for the Mac. Hopefully you can keep the modem and router near enough to the PC that you can wire that.

What model Mac is it and what version operating system is installed on it?

QUESTION: Hi Bob,
So many questions, so little Time. Ha ha.  Anyway I have a G4 Power PC (MAC)
OS is 10.3.9 I also have CD-RW drive with Memory 1.25 GB SDRAM and 40
MG hard drive. I can't get Tiger don't have DVD drive. I don't know much
about Windows, its my Partners Computer. I know its running on XP. We both
have  ethernet.  The modem idea I had, will that work? It seems to me that it
would, but you didn't say anything about it. Thanks Barbara

Answer
Barbara

Two have two modems, you would have to contact your ISP about that, and it would cost you double to do this.

For the Mac, you can use one of these wireless cards;

http://www.macwireless.com/html/products/11g_11b_cards/11gPCI.php

So, if you can locate the modem and router close to the PC, put one of these cards in the Mac and you'll have a network.

As for Tiger, you can buy it from Apple, it does come on a DVD, but Apple has an Exchange Program to get it on CD's. Check here for that;
