Question We have a CNC lathe with Fanuc 6T-B version and we want to connect it to a PC with Windows 95. I have a program called NCFreelink to send/receive programs.
I have checked the baud rate: 2400, parity: even, stop bit: 1, bits: 8 handshake: Xon/Xoff.
I have tried variations of the above and the PC will not receive a program from the machine. We had a serial cable made for it with 25db and 9bd pins with the correct wiring about 15ft long.
I would appreciate any suggestions on what might be wrong. Either it is the CNC machine, cable, PC or CNC program.
thanks
Answer I had a similar problem. We needed something called a null modem. Plugs into PC at serial connection then you plug cable into it. They are cheap to buy. Radio Shack should have them.
If that doesn't help I would look into the cable. Get a standard cable with 9db connectors on each end then use the appropriate adapters (9-25) to connect to machine rather than a different connector on each end. This will assure you have the wires correct.
