Subject: turning carbide

Question
I'm a cnc miachinist for 15 years, but now I have a new challenge.  I'll be turning and boring carbide inserts for header tooling and I'm looking for as much info as I can get on turning and boring carbide, sine I have never cut carbide on a lathe before.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
                George

Answer
George,
The only time I've ever machined carbide is on a grinder. I don't know if you can use conventional machining practices on it. I've made alot of cutting tools from carbide but its always been done on a surface or cylindrical grinder with diamond wheels.
Sorry I can't be more help.
Dave
