Subject: Firefox & Thunderbird

Question
Have a small network (4 Mac G3/G4's, using OS 9.2 & 10.39)  Currently using
Outlook Express 5.02/Explorer 5 w/OS 9.2 systems.  You had answered a
question 7/8/07 re: running Outlook Express & Explorer on a G4 - by
recommending instead to try Firefox & Thunderbird.  My question is:  As I
would really prefer to stay out of the Classic on the G4's;  can I use Firefox/
Thunderbird with OS 3.9 (intending to update to 4.0+ soon) - without
there
being network compatibility problems w/Outlook Express/Explorer on the OS
9.2 computers - and Firefox/Thunderbird on the OS 3.9 (hopefully updated
to Tiger OS 4 soon) computers ??   Would I be correct in assuming that the
two different email programs aren't going to like each other - as far as
sharing emails ??

Answer
You can use two different word processors to view a document without problems.
You can use two (or more) web browsers to view the internet.
You can use two (or more) email clients to view emails.
IF
You set up the email clients to
X Leave Email On the Server
X For 0 to 30 days
X Until I delete it

these options are typically found in the Advanced Options Setup for email clients.

The Default is
TAKE the email from the server and delete it.

YOU CAN SET IT TO
Copy the email from the server.
