Expert: Jeff Greenberg Date: 6/13/2008 Subject: Virus detection software for iMac
Question I just sent a 10-page website on a CD to a client, simple html pages built on an iMac with Adobe GoLive. Then I got an angry call from a PC repairman who claimed that my CD crashed my client's laptop CD as soon as it was put in. "Crashed right down to the blue-screen" was how he put it. He says there must be a nasty virus on my iMac. I used to use Virex on my Macs before it got so expensive. What is a good way to find out and correct such a problem?
Answer Mike,
There are ZERO viruses on the Mac. None. Zip. Denada. Technically there are two proof of concept ideas, but they've never been seen in the wild.
On the angry call. He's clearly not professional.
I'm more than willing to bet that the CD has no virus on it.
The problem is with the physical CD, or most likely the drivers on his pc.
