Macintosh OS/migration assistant

I have an imac,2GHz intel Core 2 Duo, OS10.6.8, 2.5GB ram,

I bought a used identical imac for my wife and I am trying to transfer files from the old mac to the new one.  I used Migration Assistant and it moved some settings and applications however it doesn't tell you how to select the files that I want to transfer from the old mac to the new one.  Further to this, when the iphoto application was transferred, the photo library did not.  The same applied to my Thunderbird files.  I have the machines hooked together with an ethernet cable.  Thanks for your help.  Ron

You can not choose specific files.
You can choose Applications, User Files, Settings
Some will require manual copy. Ethernet is the slowest connection.
