Subject: Projector files

Question
If you have a projector file (flash), is it possible to somehow "undo" it so that you can get back to the source and edit the file in director? Thank you.

Answer
There used to be a fantastic utility for the Mac called FlashRipper.  It basically tore apart a password protected flash file, and saved it as a base Flash file so you could open it in the Flash application.

The only problem was that it also took all interactivity out of the projector file, and any tweening, both motion and shape, was split into keyframes for each frame of the movie.

This could represent a problem for you, as:

a) You may not have a Mac
b) If you did, I don't think the software's available anymore
c) If it was, you'd only be able to get a memory intensive Flash animation out of your projector file
d) Then you'd be able to put it into Director, althought you can't edit Flash files in Director, you can only interact with them... if you were still sane by that point.

So, I should have answered your original question with a 'no'.  However, if you do manage to find FlashRipper, keep hold of it.  It's a useful utility you may need someday.

Al
