Question
Hello, How are you doing ? I'm just starting to learn the whole Macromedia thing and at this moment i'm working in Fireworks 4 and have a problem i can't solve and i was wondering if you could help me maybe. I just put 2 animations (symbol animations i made myself) on to my screen both during 10 frames long and both at 7 seconds, now what i would like to do is make 1 animation go at 20 seconds and the other at 7 seconds but not after eachother but together is you know what i mean, so that i still only have 10 frames, is this possible ? Thank you, Mellisa.

Answer
Hi Mellisa,

Thanks for your question.

I have good news and bad news. If you are designing the site in Fireworks then it's bad news, if you also have Dreamweaver (or another webdesign package), then it's good.

Unfortunately, Fireworks is mainly used to produce graphics for the web, and as such, is limited to how it can handle webpage designs. Since any animations on the page are dependant upon the total number of frames, it is not possible to animate two different objects requiring different numbers of frames or length of times between frames.

If you have Dreamweaver (or other webdesign package) however, it is possible for you to export each of the animations individually and then place them into a the website design program. Each animation will then run idividually and can last for as long as you want.

I hope this was of help, and I hope you are able to achieve the effect you want. Please let me know if I can help you with anything else, or if I wasn't clear in any way.

Phil.
