Question
I frequent the alt.html news group and I have been getting some bad vibes.  I use fireworks for my button roll overs, which is obviously created using java script.  Users at alt.html say that "java script is horrible", "what about people with out java script, or that have java script turned off".  Basically it seems to me that people that purposely decide not to take advantage of current technology deserve not seeing the things put together using java script and the like.  My questions are these:

1. If a user does not have java script what will they see for a navagation menu?  will it still work for links, just not have the roll over effect?

2.  CSS seems to be a big deal these days.  Would you recommend using CSS to do complicated roll overs that Fireworks MX can easily produce?

3.  What percentage of people actually don't have access to java script or intentionally browse with out java script?

Sorry for my long question, and I also appolgize for my spelling and grammer....it's late and I'm very tired.  Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

Greg

Answer
The Java script issues are BS. I have never heard of such a thing- I would say that most people have java script enabled and do not touch tools to disable javascript. Firework is great-use whatever is the simplest tool for you to use to create the effects you need. There are hundreds of ways to accomplish the same task- you need to work with what you are comfortable with. I use CSS to control the appearance of text of my sites; obviously it can be used for a number of other things.

I suggest you continue to read up on the topics you are interested in by doing searches for new info on yahoo- using specific phrases and key words.

Hope this info helps!
