Macromedia Freehand - converting freehand files to MX

Expert: Huma Riaz - 10/3/2009

Question
I have lots of old freehand files that were created in Freehand 9 (and some even older than that). i just now installed Freehand MX which seems to be running fine (fingers crossed) but i can't open any of my old FH files. i tried changing the files prefix to .eps. .fh8 .fh9 with no luck. I can open them through Adobe Illustrator and save as .eps or export as .swf but when it opens in freehand MX it opens as a raster image. What i need is a vector image to make my changes and continue to work with the files when needed.

Answer
you can try one thing.

check the previous file extensions and change then to fh11 or whatever the software uses now.

Hope this will help, otherwise ... I think you will need to copy and paste the data from one file to another (from previous software file to new software file, you can do this by opening both software at one time and copy paste from to another) to make the files editable.

Regards
Huma
