Question We work at a silkscreen company that prints onto glasses. We have one new glass which is larger on top and gradually reduces in size towards the bottom. When we apply a regular decal to it it is warped, therefore, we need to arch the decal on paper to compensate for the change in the cup...none of us can figure this out. we have the dimensions all drawn out on the screen, but we cannot figure out how to distort the image on the screen without doing it each piece individually. We want to avoid this because when a customer sends us separations, doing each individual path would take forever. Is there anyway to arch a group of objects to fit a curved path??? hope that wasnt too confusing, thanks for your help. Vicki
Answer Vicki,
glasses are really out of my area, but i have an idea you may want to try. kpt vector effects has a warp frame selection....if you group all the items and draw a box around them representing the outer boundary you can adjust the entire image in one step. If you do not have access to kpt vector effects there is a fairly limited envelope tool in freehand 8.0 which works in a similiar manner.....it's much smaller and harder to control...go to the xtra's menu item....slide down to distort, then to envelope.....i hear freehand 9.0 is going to resolve the problems in this feature by offer a larger and more manipulatable section. i hope this helps you.
