Macromedia Freehand - Converting Freehand 3 to 9 or 10

Expert: Alyn - 6/15/2003

Question
I designed a catalogue for a client in 1993 using Freehand 3.
I just restored it form DAT tapes but I can't open it with Freehand 9 or 10.
Any ideas?

Answer
started in freehand 3 myself  :)  i have lost access to alot of old files myself this way, having them in frehand 3, can't get them to open in freehand or illustrator which seems to open just about everything freehand won't.  but considering the time a catalogue probably took, i understand your desire to pull it up.  my only thought is to find one of you old disks of freehand 5 or 5.5, re install that, they should open the 3.0 file, then save it as the version you have just reinstalled, freehand 9 should open a 5 or 5.5 file just fine, it does on my system.  sounds like a time consuming pain, but may be worth not recreating the catalogue.
