AboutJeffrey J. Wrobel Expertise I can answer OS compatibility questions, from OS 7 to OS X 10.5.x Leopard. I have extensive experience in software installation, use, and troubleshooting as well as many aspects of high level hardware repair. Any questions about peripherals and their Mac-compatibility are also welcome. I am very current in all aspects of the Max OS, while having an excellent breadth of knowledge of older machines. My work keeps me in constant contact with Mac suppliers, products, and problems, enabling me to not only draw on my past experience, but also to add to that experience every day. Living in Rhode Island with family near Cape Cod, Mass has proven to be a bit lacking in Mac popularity (Yankees are slow to change), but momentum is building for Apple.

Question Hi, I'm 17 and going to university next year. I've been saving up for 2 years to
buy a laptop and my question is, how much will they improve between now
and after Christmas? I can afford to buy one now but should I wait until after
Christmas and get a better one?
Also I'm in the UK and we often get new technology later than in the US.
Thankyou so much!
Answer Dear Morag,
This is a tough one for ME because I'm always trying to stay on top of the newest technology, being a Mac tech. I obsess about it, read countless blogs and websites, and watch the updates that Apple implements, all in an attempt to buy computers at the BEGINNING of their technological lifespan.
The one you are looking at is just fine, but there may be a United States new release/redesign of the Macbook in September. This would give at least 3 months for the new tech to make it across the Atlantic.
The most helpful of all the blogs, sites, and reviews is MacRumors time-ordered buying guide. It takes the past dates of releases and averages them together to give an accurate idea of when, if not what, changes will occur. Rumour has it that the MacBooks will get a new greener case (aluminum, like the MacBook Pros) and a slight processor speed bump.
