AboutJeffrey J. Wrobel Expertise I can answer OS compatibility questions, from OS 7 to OS X 10.5.x Leopard. I have extensive experience in software installation, use, and troubleshooting as well as many aspects of high level hardware repair. Any questions about peripherals and their Mac-compatibility are also welcome. I am very current in all aspects of the Max OS, while having an excellent breadth of knowledge of older machines. My work keeps me in constant contact with Mac suppliers, products, and problems, enabling me to not only draw on my past experience, but also to add to that experience every day. Living in Rhode Island with family near Cape Cod, Mass has proven to be a bit lacking in Mac popularity (Yankees are slow to change), but momentum is building for Apple.

Question When I click on mail on my Apple laptop it asks me for my password. I am sure I am using the correct one, but !!!! How do I get in touch with them or someone who can reset my password. can you help.Thanks.
Answer Dear Sonia,
So sorry, but I am catching up from being hospitalized and am behind. It is deceptively simple to reset the password. If you have Leopardd, use your Leopard startup disk that you purchased or the Software Restore disc #1 that came with your laptop. If you have OS X 10.4 you can use a 10.4 disk, 10.3 use a 10.3 disc, etc. Push the power button and immediately hold down the C key and put the disc in the drive right away. Keep holding the C key down until you see the Apple on the white/gray background AND the little rotating gear thingy. Then, you may release the C key. When the installer starts up the laptop and gets to the first screen, pick English as the language and move to the next screen. STOP THERE. Go up to the pull-down menus and find UTILITIES and pull down the menu and choose RESET PASSWORD. Select your hard drive (usually named Macintosh HD) and select your user name. Put a new, easy-to-remember password in the space, then retype it in the next space down. Put a hint in the lower box to help you.
Then, just go to the INSTALLER pull-down and select QUIT. Choose Startup Disk from there and you just have to re-select your Hard Drive (instead of the disc) as your startup drive. From there, there is a RESTART button--click it and you are all set.
If you need any additional help or clarification, don't hesitate to ask a followup question, okay? Please don't give me a poor rating in timeliness. It takes so long to recover from and I really couldn't help it. Thanks for choosing us here at AllExperts.
Sincerely,
