Macs/Apples - follow up question ID 4853571

Question
QUESTION: i have tried to partition and erase HDD and reinstall OS. During install process the computer did not crash and showed successful install. However the OS crashes after reboot even when trying to boot into safe mode. This is my first mac so i am not sure I partitioned correctly. My confusion is that the partitioning, erase, and formatting of HDD was so fast and in a PC both of these utilities take alot more time. As stated in first question I am running OS 10.4 tiger with 512mb of ram.

ANSWER: what is the model and how did yo get the computer?
I guess it is not new judging form 512 RAM.

QUESTION: It is an ibook g4 bought about 3.5 years ago and given to me by my son trying to turn me to macs.

Answer
1. You did not re-format the hard drive. You re-partitioned. A process that take about 1 minute. that should be enough for fresh installation.
2. Try doing the same again. Start up form the system DVD and run the process again. If it crashed then you need to have it serviced.
