Macs/Apples/cannot update office 2011 on mac

I have tried numerous ways to fix this problem :

Clean uninstall and re-install of Office 2011
Download individual updates
Download older Office updates

It seems that I cannot install any updates, either via the Automatic updater or a stand-alone .dmg file. I always stop at "Destination Select" step of installation, where a small yellow triangle with an exclamation mark appears on top of the harddisk image. Saying that A version of the software required to install this update was not found on this volume.

I had Microsoft Office 2011 running perfectly before, but after deleting it and reinstalling it later, the whole problem started occuring.

I can install office 2011 14.0.0, 14.1.0 and 14.2.0 individually. However I cannot update them to any versions in between, including the full versions (14.0 to 14.1 or 14.1 to 14.2).

Is there a way I can find Office 2011 for Mac 14.2.3 or 14.2.5 etc combined in one installation package ?? Maybe it is the only way to fix such a problem.

Thanks for writing!

While I haven't had this problem personally, I'd give this solution a go:

It looks like there are several things that can interfere with updates.  Let me know if any of these routes solves it.

Good luck!

I worked in IT for ten years with a specialty in Macintosh technologies and Project Management.
I've worked with the Macintosh Operating system and various machines since my first PowerMac 8500 running Mac OS 7.5.3 in 1996. I support my friends and family in keeping their Macs healthy and upgraded. Now I use a MacBook Pro for our home media network and we're pretty much down to iPads and iPhones for daily use.
Most important: I've also worked on PCs for a number of years with various flavors of Windows(95,98,NT4,2000,2000Server,2K3Server,SBS 2K3Server,Mil,XPHome,XPPro, Vista Business), but I've always used the Mac as my platform of preference.
