Macs/Apples/converting old wordprocessing files to new formats

My 2003 iBook needs replacing, but is full of mostly w-p (cwk)Appleworks files which I cannot abandon.  Laptops is running OSX 10.3.5 and the files are written in Appleworks 6.26.  What can I do to convert them to contemporary Pages or Word files, so they can be worked on with a new Apple laptop?

Appleworks word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation files can be opened in the iWork applications Pages, Numbers, and Keynote respectively. There is no Apple-supplied application to open AppleWorks database, painting, or drawing files without converting them to a different format.
