Macs/Apples/old display monitors

Question
Hello Ed :
I am a novice on this issue.
I want to locate a display monitor that will accommodate a first generation mac mini, circa 2005, OS X.4.11 TIGER.
Current vga/ dvi capable flat screens won't work with this model, because of
resolution stats  and pixel refreshment speeds are incompatible. I am a non-tech head so I rely on others for these ideas.
How would you search for an old monitor capable of accommodating these
details ? Do you know a specialist that locates old monitors ?

MAC MINI- FIRST GENERATION - 2005
DVI video output for digital resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 pixels;  supports coherent digital displays up to 154MHz; supports non-coherent digital displays up to 135MHz
VGA video output (using included adapter) to support analog resolutions up to 1920 x 1080 pixels

Answer
James,
I had a fair bit of experience with this model back when it was released, but nothing recent.

EveryMac has this to say about it: https://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/mac_mini/faq/mac-mini-g4-video-largest-display-supported-connect-to-tv.html

I would look on Tiger Direct, Fry's, and NewEgg.  I don't know of a specialist that locates old monitors.

Tekserve (NYC) has this: http://faq.tekserve.com/what-apple-video-adapter-do-i-need/

I do remember back in the day, putting a video resolution and refresh adapter between certain older Macs and their displays, to make them work.  Used a series of dip switches to force the resolution and refresh rate to something higher for the newer monitor to accept.  I do not know more than that though.

Good luck!

Experience

I worked in IT for ten years with a specialty in Macintosh technologies and Project Management.
I've worked with the Macintosh Operating system and various machines since my first PowerMac 8500 running Mac OS 7.5.3 in 1996. I support my friends and family in keeping their Macs healthy and upgraded. Now I use a MacBook Pro for our home media network and we're pretty much down to iPads and iPhones for daily use.
Most important: I've also worked on PCs for a number of years with various flavors of Windows(95,98,NT4,2000,2000Server,2K3Server,SBS 2K3Server,Mil,XPHome,XPPro, Vista Business), but I've always used the Mac as my platform of preference.
