Macs/Apples/iTunes

Question
Hi there, I've googled for solutions but nothing is working :( My iTunes store shows a blank screen and I can't reset it. A few days back I tried downloading a free book from Amazon and when I clicked purchase, the system prompted me to 'change stores' which I did, but was still unable to download the book. Anyway, I've gone into Preferences and deleted com.apple.iTunes.plist and some other com.apple.itunes.lock ... something or other. I've tried 'RESET CACHE' on iTunes pref. I've checked to see that iTunes is set to NZ and to NZ date and time correctly. What else can I do?? If you suggest I uninstall iTunes (I'm not sure how but guess I can google it) do I lose all my music? Most of it was downloaded from CDs and not purchased from iTunes so I don't want to lose it. I'd really appreciate some help. My MAC is a MACbook PRO, purchased new in 2012 and runs OS X 10.7.5
Many thanks in advance :) I've had one response from another expert on your panel and they couldn't answer my question :(

Answer
Meg,
Hi, sorry for the delay!  I haven't seen this before.  Please try this:
Go under Edit - Preferences - Parental Control -Where it say's disable, check ITunes Store and then check Allow access to Itunes U.

Please let me know if that fixes it.

Good luck!

Experience

I worked in IT for ten years with a specialty in Macintosh technologies and Project Management.
I've worked with the Macintosh Operating system and various machines since my first PowerMac 8500 running Mac OS 7.5.3 in 1996. I support my friends and family in keeping their Macs healthy and upgraded. Now I use a MacBook Pro for our home media network and we're pretty much down to iPads and iPhones for daily use.
Most important: I've also worked on PCs for a number of years with various flavors of Windows(95,98,NT4,2000,2000Server,2K3Server,SBS 2K3Server,Mil,XPHome,XPPro, Vista Business), but I've always used the Mac as my platform of preference.
