QUESTION: Just got a new apple MAC laptop. How do I get my msn email account on the
laptop without going thru hotmail each time? The MAC mail account prompts for
POP or IMAP or Exchange and requires server info as well. Thanks!



ANSWER: log in into your msn account and check out how to set up desktop email client to retrieve emails.

QUESTION: the info you provided seems only to get me to the msn hotmail account, not my
direct msn mail inbox. Is the hotmail route the only way I can access the
account? Also, I wasn't sure how to "check out how to set up desktop email
client" within my msn account? Granted, I have very limited technology ability!

You should read MSN help files.
To set up email you need:

Incoming mail server (usually looks like that: mail.PROVIDER NAME.com)
Outgoing mail server (usually looks like that: smpt.PROVIDER NAME.COM)
Password/username.

Incoming and outgoing mail server names differ form service to service and any provider has help files on how to access them.

The question you are asking is related to Windows, not Macs. You may want to ask experts of WIndows section.
