Question QUESTION: Hi Nick - I have a son with budding talent who has wowed several audiences with his play acting and magic. He recently performed Houdini's metamorphosis illusion with fog, lights and music for his 8th grade project for his school. He and my husband built the trunk. I am looking to give him blueprints as a Christmas present for another illusion he and my husband can build. It took them some time, but they were able to work with a pretty simple blueprint and make the trunk work. What do you think? And do you know where to purchase them? Thank you so much! p.s. ANSWER: Hi Beth. There's a series of DVDs/Books called "Illusion Works" which has directions on how to build the important parts of illusions and different illusions themselves. you can shop around, but i know that the magicwarehouse.com has the DVDs and a book. The books may be a little harder to track down. I believe you can find the DVDs and Books and many illusion at magicauction.com. I have to admit I have only purchased from the magic warehouse though. Anyways, hope this helps.
QUESTION: Hi Nick - I'm not sure if you will see the feedback or not where I asked you a question, so I'll ask it here. (by the way the feedback was excellent!) I'm wondering if you know the actual contents of the dvd's, or the illusions covered in them. It is a bit cryptic, and the only demo shown was basically the same one Jonah already performed. Answer It's a bit out dated I think, but it goes over the same basic principals that almost an endless number of original illusions can be created from. If you noticed the "synopsis" for vol. 1&2 it said "steps and bases" this is used for many different effects including the effects show in the "80's style" video. I personally don't own the videos or books, but my magician friend got a hold of the book and successfully built his own original illusion based on vol. 1&2. Honestly even if the video only has one great idea that you can use in it, i would think it's worth it for $23. I don't know much about Vol. 2&3 or illusion works 3. Hope this works.
