I ran The Summer School at The Magic Circle for many years as well as booked performers for the monthly public shows. I run a company called `MagicWorks` which provides magic for adult private and corporate events, television, film and theatre productions. I also hold training workshops and seminars, teleconferences and online training on using magic in business, performing at Trade Shows, Magic for Presenters etc and provide after dinner or conference talks and speeches all on the subject of business and personnel development. This includes creativity, presentation, online and offline marketing etc.

Experience
Whilst I have been a performer for many years I now spend an increasing amount of time as a personal and business coach, using magic as a metaphor in my teaching and training sessions. I have several Internet Businesses that include Coaching and Mentoring entertainers in the whole business of self Branding, Promotion, Marketing and filling their diaries with bookings.

Magic and Illusion - Classic Disapear

Expert: John Gordon - Master Magician - 9/2/2009

Question
Hi, John.  I am an intermediate magician and there's one act I haven't found a good technique for: disapearing.  I need a way to make my only assistant disapear from a fairly open venue (no side stage).  It would be nice if this could be done relatively inexpensively.

Answer
Hi Ian

There are many many ways to disappear ... and the method you choose will be determined by many things: the situation, your knowledge, budget, available assistants, audience position, numbers, lighting etc etc etc.

With no side stage ....is not a problem ... but I'd need to know more about rear stage, audience size and position as well as the precise context ie what happens immediately before and after and WHY is the vanish happening.

SO ...let me know and I'll describe the best vanish for your needs.

John

PS When you DO reply ... I will not be able to respond unless you ask in PRIVATE mode. I do not give secrets in the public mode.
