Magic and Illusion - cup and ball

Expert: Nick - 10/8/2004

Question
Hello Nick, my name is Von. I have been a magician for about 5 years. For the last year I haven't been able to do a lot of magic what with school and work and such.  Every year my boss has a halloween party for her grandchildren, but this is no ordinary halloween party.  My boss and her husband have some serious money and this shin-dig could compare with some professional haunted houses and parties.  Well this year she wants me to be the magician at her party.  So I went out and bought a cup and ball set to add to my routine, but the instructions are terrible.  I know you say you wont give away secrets, but if you could at least point me in the right direction.  Maybe a website or anything. I would appreciate all of your help.
Sincerly,
Von Richcreek

Answer
well, if you want a classic routine, the best way to go is to get a magic book from your local library and there is almost always a classic cups and ball routine in it.  If you want something a little more up-to-darte, try just getting an intermediate to advanced cups and balld video.  Another thing i like to do, is maybe find a copy of magic shows with that routine in it and pick out the pieces that you like and just mix things up.  Pretty much just read the instructions, play around with the cups and balls by maybe using coffe mugs and/or oranges, basically just things like that.  Hope this helps.
(a good place for videos is): www.themagicwarehouse.com
