Maine - Bar Harbour

Question
Hi Tom,
I am cruising to Bar Harbour and on to Canada mid June.  I've been on HAL website and there are lots of tours they sponsor.  May question is where to go off by myself close to the pier for good lobster and whether Bar Harbour is "hilly" because if it is I'll need to rely on tours to see things.  Any ideas or suggestions?
Many thanks - a

Answer
Hi Abigail,

The beauty of Acadia National Park is more than worthwhile for taking a tour.  I go back one or twice nearly every year just to refresh my memory of just how beautiful it is. Don't miss it.

While most of downtown Bar Harbor is on the flat side, there is a good sized hill (30 to 50 ft of elevation)from the dock area to get up to the flatter part of town.  If that one climb is doable, you should be OK.

Unfortunately, I am not up to date on the restaurants there any more, as I do not live in the immediate area.  My suggestion would be to stop into a local business there and ask for a local person's recommendation.  That's what I do and I have had good results.

Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Kindest regards,

Tom Webster
