Maine/Lobster Restaurant
Expert: Tom Webster - 9/10/2009
QuestionYOu are probably sick of answsering this question, but I still need to ask it. At least every other year I come to Maine for some alone time or on assignment. This September end I will be with friends and family who have asked me to find the best Lobster eating place in the state. I have told them that I sometimes eat at DiMillios in Portland and know very little else. The rest of my meals are taken at the college where I am a temp adjunct.
So I turn to you for help and and guidance and hope I can get an honest recommendation. I am turning to you, sir, to list a few restaurants or locations where my party will go away agreeing that Maine has the best in seafood.
Once again, help.
Thank you.
AnswerHi Ritzy,
Maine is a very large state and while I have had lobster in a few restaurants, my wife and I prefer to cook our own. I really dislike answering this question as it is really outside of my expertise, but if I had to recommend a restaurant to anyone for lobster, I would have to recommend the Harraseeket Inn in Freeport, ME. I have to caution you, however, as it will definitely be expensive. It is a very classy place (near LL Bean) and they take great pride in all the food they serve. I can truly vouch for the lobster, however, as it is all supplied by my stepson who is one of the largest and best lobstermen in the state.
Kindest regards,
Tom Webster
