Question
Where can one see the best exsisting Fishing Villages or small towns that are not real tourist centers or interesting historic coastal towns. Or just in general what would you recommend for a two week trip of Maine, New Brunswick.

Answer
Hi Beryl,

Nearly all of Maine's coastal towns have some tourist influence and a good many of them have fishermen.  Perhaps the Maine Chamber of Commerce can help you more in that regard than I can.  One town that I think you might enjoy is Camden and another is Castine.  A little inland is the town of Bucksport that has a civil war fort.

Despite the heavy tourism, Acadia National Park is a definite must see.  It is the only National Park that private land owners donated to the US government.  Its natural beauty is well acclaimed.  I would allow at least two days for this alone.  If you are inclined to include this in your trip, I would be happy to give you more details on what to see, etc.

I am not conversant with Nova Scotia at all -- sorry.

Kindest regards,

Tom Webster
