Subject: followup question on towms to visit along New England coast and inland to see fall colors

Question
Tom,
I  was hoping for suggestions on towms to visit along the New England coast during Sept. 15-22 and places to go to see fall colors.  I  can locate places to stay . Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jack

Answer
Hi Jack,

You only have a week and September could be on the early side for fall colors.  You may have to go north to see much color.  Greenville, Maine near Moosehead Lake may be your best bet.  It is a beautiful area even without fall colors.  It is about 1.5 hours northwest of Bangor, ME.

Of course my favorite place along the Maine coast is Acadia National Park near Bar Harbor, ME. You could easily spend a couple of days there.  Other towns I might suggest are Camden and Boothbay Harbor.  Camden would only take an hour or so and is on the way to Bar Harbor, but Boothbay Harbor is worth a bit more time.  The movie Carousel was filmed there.  I not as familiar with other places south of there.  If any of you are history buffs, a visit to Bangor would be in order.

If I can offer anything more, please ask.

Kindest regards,

Tom Webster
