Subject: stove eye that has unregulated heat

Question
QUESTION: One of my electric stove eyes sometimes gets very hot and doesn't seem to cycle off and on.  It's like it is on as high as it will go, but just stays red hot.  It seems to only do this if it is on higher than midway, but I'm not sure of any more detail than that.  I assume it has something to do with a thermostat, but I don't know and I have NO idea how the thermostat works on a stove eye or even where it is located.  Can you help?  I fear it is a fire danger.

Thanks,
Patti

ANSWER: Hello Patti,
The burner control switch is the cause of your problems,  We would need the model number of your range so we can see what you have.  Please respond with the brand and model number.   Thank you, Ann

QUESTION: It is a Frigidaire FEF356CHTA

Is this something a do-it-yourselfer can tackle??!!

Answer
Sure you can do it.  If the problematic burner is the smaller one, part number for the switch is 316021500 and your cost is 30.00 in new or 15.00 in good qualityused.  The larger burner is part number 316021501 34.00 in new or 17.00 in good quality used.  Shippign would be 6.95 in the United States.  Order from us and I will guide you throught he installation.  Should you choose to order, follow this link:  http://www.affordableappliance.com/orderform.htm   If you have any problems, concerns or need further information, feel free to email us or call 1-570-622-6441.

Waiting to hear from you,
Eric Campion
